Mountain View, California-based GetInsured, a financial technology company offering a cloud-based health insurance exchange platform to facilitate health insurance shopping, has announced a reduction in its companywide workforce.

The personnel restructuring will impact 430 employees commencing on February 19, 2025.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based Independence Blue Cross, an independent healthcare licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, has announced a restructuring and cost reduction initiative including a 3% reduction in force.

The reduction will impact approximately 130 employees.

CEO Gregory Deavens notes, “In response to rapid changes in market conditions and industry dynamics, we are undertaking a careful redesign of our organization. To effectively address the evolving needs of our customers and recent market trends, we are transforming our organization structure to better position us for the future. Cost pressures and an increasingly competitive environment have caused many health-care companies to announce structural or other changes to their organizations and cost structures.”

Dallas, Texas-based Steward Health Care, a private for-profit healthcare system that uses an integrated care model to deliver healthcare across its hospitals and primary care locations, as well as through its managed care and health insurance services, has announced the closure of two Massachusetts acute care hospitals

The closures will impact 1,250 employees, including 753 workers at Carney Hospital and 490 workers at Nashoba Valley Medical Center.

According to a spokesperson, “The decision to close both Carney and Nashoba hospitals is one we deeply regret having to make. Steward is acutely aware of the difficulties this will impose on our dedicated and hardworking employees.”
