AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT IMAGEN BRANDS

Am I Next? Layoffs at Imagen Brands after acquisition.

Clearwater, Florida-based Koozie Group, a manufacturer and marketer of consumer and promotional advertising items such as logoed rainwear, bags, drinkware, and coolers, has acquired the Imagen Brands Group in Mobil Alabama and announced that it will reduce its workforce by 70 employees starting on April 1, 2021.

According to a company spokesperson at the time Imagen was acquired, "This acquisition is part of our long-term plan for scalable and sustainable growth within the promotional products market. This allows us to provide the additional necessary resources and marketing support needed to help grow the Imagen Brands business. Our intent is to run their sales, customer service and operations as a stand-alone business."

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT MARITZ

Am I Next? Downsizing at Maritz.

Fenton, Missouri-based Maritz, a sales and marketing services company that designs and operates programs targeted at employee recognition, customer loyalty, incentive programs, and acts as a corporate event planner, has announced that it will be laying off another 107 employees after previous layoffs of 524 employees. The layoffs are scheduled to commence in February 2021.

"In light of the extension of applicable governmental shutdown orders, intervening and extended federal and CDC guidance recommending social distancing and decreased travel, and additional data and analysis revealing the resulting impact of the Covid-19 crisis on Maritz's financial condition, and despite Maritz's attempts to explore options to comply with government standards and guidance and to implement alternative procedures, Maritz has just recently realized that additional action is necessary and that permanent layoffs of employees who were previously furloughed are required."
